![]() Sonoma, California - Red Ale - 6.8% ABV - This ale poured a deep cherry mahogany color with a khaki colored head. The nose had aromas of citrus hop notes that were accompanied by a sweet, bready, caramelized malt flavor - making it extremely balanced. The mouth was full-bodied with medium carbonation. Bear Republic certainly brews some fine ales. 4.45/5

![]() English Barley Wine - 12.0% ABV - This excellent beer poured a hazy blood-orange color with a collar of white foam. The aromas of rich, sweet toffee and caramel are big on the nose, but it also has an undertone of golden raisin, light oak, and vanilla. The taste is sweet from the malts, and not as powerful as a barley wine, but it certainly has bourbon, caramel, and toffee flavors throughout the mouth. The feel is thick and creamy, but it goes down nice and smooth. If you ever get a chance to buy one of these, please do yourself a favor. Cheers! 4.85/5 ![]() Imperial/Double IPA - 10.0% ABV - This fist-full of a beer poured a dark honey, copper color. It gave sweet aromas of pine, grapefruit, and caramel; with a hint of some spice. The taste is what got me on this one; a great tropical-hop flavor on the front, which transitions to a piney bite that ends beautifully with a sweet caramel-like finish. 4.75/5 ![]() Belgian Strong Dark Ale - 8.72% ABV - This Belgian poured a cloudy ruby red with a fluffy white head. The nose included hints of alcohol, yeast, dark fruit, as well as a floral spice scent. The mouth provided a heavy feel to the beer, making it feel almost texturized, while leaving an amazing aftertaste. This is another great one from Avery. 4.2/5 ![]() Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout - 14.2% ABV - Enjoyed this for my birthday tonight - it certainly fit the occasion. It poured a motor-oil black with no head, just a thin layer of brown foam. The nose was quite complex; it features roasted malts, caramel, toffee nut, bourbon, as well as some biscuit aromas. The taste was great. Very similar to the nose, but it featured a sweet, malty-scotch flavor that changed as it warmed up. The mouth was thick, almost like cough syrup, and also had a creamy characteristic. It feels silky in the mouth and leaves a nice, long finish. Cheers! 4.9/5 ![]() Rye Ale - 8.0% ABV - This poured a reddish Brown color with a khaki colored head. The nose has a bouquet of rye malts, roasted malts, dark fruit, as well as some funky yeast aromas. The taste has characteristics of dark fruit, complex malts, and a mouthful of rye. This brew is extremely balanced and I highly recommend it for Rye lovers. 4,45/5 ![]() Imperial/Double IPA - 9.75% ABV - This is the closest thing to drinking with the gods. It poured a clear golden orange color with a khaki, off-white head. The nose consisted of pine, citrus, apricot, roasted malt, as well as a heavy hop aroma. The taste was wonderful; it featured a very balanced malt-hop front, with a bitter-sweet grapefruit flavor. The mouth feel was thick and silky, and had a clean long finish. I wouldn't mind drinking this DIPA all the time. Cheers! 4.75/5 ![]() Belgian Strong Pale Ale - 8.5% ABV - This bubbly beer poured a honey gold color with a white head. The aroma was quite pleasant. It has hints of green apples, jasmine flowers, and pears. I was definitely pleased with the taste; it features a champagne-like feel, with a beautiful dry, fruity finish. 4.4/5 |
