
![]() San Marcos, California - American Wild Ale - 9.00% ABV - This sour ale poured a thick burgundy color with a small magenta colored head that dissipates immediately. The nose featured distinct tart characteristics of sour cherries and raspberries, while having a slight funky, vinegar undertone. The mouth was solid; puckering flavors of raspberries, blackberries, and dark cherries are prevalent up front, with oak and vanilla tart on the backend. Framboise de Amorosa has a light bodied mouthfeel, that gives a delightful, puckering sensation with each sip. Cheers to a great sour by The Lost Abbey! 9.5/10

![]() Kalamazoo, Michigan - BA Imperial Stout - 11.40% ABV - This BA imperial stout poured an opaque black color with a small khaki brown colored head that leaves excellent lacing on the glass. The nose featured aromas of roasted malts, chocolate fudge, vanilla beans, oak, and sweet molasses. This brew tasted amazing; flavors of chocolate fudge, marshmallow, vanilla, oak, sweet caramel, and undertones of boozy bourbon create a decadent mouth taste. The mouthfeel of Black Note was medium-plus bodied, with a long, flavorful finish that coats the palate nicely. I loved this brew, it was even better than Founders' KBS. Cheers! 9.8/10 ![]() Placentia, California - BA Imperial Stout with Vanilla Beans and Cocoa Nibs - 18.00% ABV - This monster-like beer poured a syrupy black color, with a small, viscous layer of brown foam that lines the glass. The nose featured decadent aromas of dark chocolate, hints of espresso, vanilla beans, oak, and sweet malts, while having a boozy undertone. The mouth was unbelievable; the front was full of rich chocolate and vanilla, roasted malts, and sweet molasses, while having a backbone of coffee and boozy oak on the finish. Chocolate Rain had a heavy bodied mouthfeel, almost syrupy, while having a rich and lingering finish that went down like a dessert. This is the only variant of Black Tuesday that I've tried, and I love it. I can't wait to get my hands on some Mocha Wednesday. Cheers to an amazing beer by The Bruery. 10/10 ![]() Placentia, California - American Wild Ale - 5.80% ABV - This delicious sour ale poured a hazy, pale orange color with a fluffy white head that dissipates quickly. The nose featured complex aromas of subtle oak, mild apricots, roasted almonds, and intense lemon tartness. The mouth brought out puckering flavors of sour citrus, hints of oak and vanilla, a slight nuttiness, with a supple apricot finish. Filmishmish became more complex as it warmed up; bringing out it's distinct apricot characteristics. The mouthfeel was light bodied, with a sour finish that left you puckered for more. Cheers to another awesome sour by The Bruery. 9.4/10 ![]() Petaluma, California - American Black IPA - 8.20% ABV - This tasty black ale poured a dark brown color with a khaki colored, frothy head. The nose featured aromas of citrus hops, sweet caramel, pine, and roasted malts. The mouth was solid; flavors of earthy hops, pine, grapefruit, and orange peel are prevalent up front, with a huge back-end full of sweet, roasted, dark malts. The mouthfeel was medium plus bodied, with a sweet and balanced finish the lingers in the mouth. The NightTime Ale was a great representation of a Black IPA by Lagunitas; I'll certainly be having more of this. 9.2/10 ![]() Paso Robles, California - Pilsner - 5.30% ABV - This hop-forward Pilsner poured a clear golden-yellow color with a fluffy white head. The nose featured crisp aromas of lager yeast, lemon peel, grassy hops, and bready malts that come together nicely. The mouth was solid; flavors of subtle pine, lemon zest, earthy grains, and floral notes create a clean, sessionable taste. Pivo Pils has a light bodied mouthfeel, with a refreshing, subtle-hop finish that is impressive for a pilsner. I recommend this brew for the upcoming summer heat; it's thirst quenching, and may be one of my favorites in it's style. Cheers! 9.0/10 ![]() Placentia, California - BA Imperial Porter - 14.40% ABV - This fantastic collaboration poured an opaque black color with a small layer of brown foam that dissipates immediately. The nose was phenomenal; aromas of robust espresso, vanilla beans, chocolate fudge, charred oak, and cherries create a wonderful scent that tickles the senses. The mouth was my favorite part; flavors of milk chocolate, fresh coffee, vanilla, cherries, and caramel malts are big up front, with a slight bourbon undertone. Rue D'Floyd has a heavy bodied mouthfeel, with a long lasting finish that coats the palate and leaves you wanting more. This is certainly one of my favorite beers, and it is a shame that it has a lactobacillus infection. I didn't taste the infection on tap at The Bruery, but there is a slight tart presence on the front of the tongue when I enjoyed it out of the bottle. If you get the chance to try this beast, please do before it's too late. The nose featured aromas of Belgian yeast, pepper, fresh oranges, and cloves, while having undertones of mango and bready malts. The mouth was solid; flavors of banana, cloves, orange peel, coriander, and spicy pepper create a crisp taste that keeps you wanting more. The mouthfeel was medium-minus bodied with a clean and flavorful finish that leaves a lasting impression. Russian River did a great job on Damnation, it's definitely up there as one of my favorites in it's style. Cheers! 9.3/10 |
