Escondido, California - Imperial/Double IPA - 10.80% ABV - This hop blasted DIPA poured a clear, copper gold color, with a beautiful white head that leaves excellent lacing on the glass. The nose featured hoppy aromas of grapefruit peel, oranges, resinous pine, and sweet malts that tickle the senses. The mouth was tasty; flavors of citrus and sweet pine are prevalent up front, with a back-end full of intense malts. RuinTen has a medium-plus mouthfeel with a long, resinous finish that stains the palate. This brew is certainly for all of the hop heads that are out there; it's very tasty, but I prefer the Enjoy By. Cheers! 9.4/10
![]() Placentia, California - American Wild Ale - 5.10% - This raspberry sour poured a clear, bright ruby red color with a pinkish-white head that dissipates quickly. The nose featured raspberry tartness upfront, with white vinegar and rose water undertones on the back end. The mouth was very tart, but was cut with the sweetness of the raspberries; it tasted like a raspberry vinaigrette, with a slight funk. BeRazzled had a light bodied mouthfeel with a crisp, effervescent finish. Overall, this was a solid sour in which the raspberries and the tartness blend together flawlessly. 9.1/10 ![]() Alpine, California - American Pale Ale - 5.25% ABV - This hop-blasted Pale Ale poured a slightly hazy, golden orange color with a small layer of white foam that lines the glass. The nose featured aromas of hops, hops, and more hops; fresh pine and grapefruit are prevalent upfront, with undertones of oranges and malts. The mouth was excellent; flavors of bitter oranges, guava, grapefruit, and pine burst into the mouth with each sip. The mouthfeel was medium-minus bodied with a clean, crisp, and hoppy finish that has a nice caramel backbone. This Pale Ale is almost perfect to style; it's certainly up there with Zombie Dust and PseudoSue. Cheers! 9.9/10 ![]() Munster, Indiana - American Pale Ale - 6.66% ABV - This hop-forward Pale Ale poured a clear, dark amber color with a frothy white head that leaves excellent lacing on the glass. The nose featured pungent aromas of resinous pine, fresh citrus, jasmine flowers, and subtle grapefruit that blend together nicely. The mouth was solid; flavors of blood oranges, bitter grapefruit, pine, and sweet caramel come together to create a balanced taste. The mouthfeel was medium-minus bodied with a long and flavorful finish that leaves it's mark on the palate. Three Floyds certainly knows what they're doing with brewing Pale Ales, cheers! 9.4/10 ![]() Escondido, California - Imperial/Double IPA - 9.4% ABV - This hop filled Double IPA poured a clear, golden-copper color with a frothy white head that leaves excellent lacing on the glass. Devastatingly dank aromas of resinous pine, guava fruit, grapefruit zest, lemon peel, and sweet malts come together nicely to create a beautiful bouquet of a nose. The mouth featured juicy tropical fruit flavors of pineapple, hints of mango, fresh guava, and resinous pine on the front, while having undertones of bitter grapefruit and malts on the back end. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, while having a zesty, crisp, long finish. Enjoy this delicious DIPA by Independence Day, it may just set you free. It's very balanced, and features a wonderful, tropical fruit hop-profile. 9.7/10 ![]() Tampa, Florida - Imperial Stout - 11.50% ABV - This gift from the Mayan Gods poured a syrupy, opaque black color, with no head, while having sticky lacing that lines the glass. The nose featured decadent aromas of cinnamon and pepper upfront, with undertones of chocolate, vanilla, and coffee that come together wonderfully. The mouth was epic; flavors of cinnamon, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and coffee grounds blend together perfectly, while having a slight spicy backbone from the ancho chilies that tickles the throat. The mouthfeel was thick and heavy bodied, while having a creamy, flavorful, and long finish that leaves you satisfied. Hunahpu's Imperial Stout lives up to the expectations that I've had for it; it certainly didn't disappoint. Thanks to my man@mrbryson for this beast, I'll certainly be looking forward to more. Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there, Cheers! 10/10 ![]() Munster, Indiana - Russian Imperial Stout - 15.00% ABV - This huge RIS poured a thick, syrupy black color with a small brown head that leaves sticky lacing on the glass. The nose is a bit muted, but it featured aromas of bitter malts, sweet molasses, and caramel, with a slight boozy undertone. The mouth was solid, but perhaps a bit too sweet; flavors of milk chocolate, roasted figs, fresh coffee, fudge brownies, and caramel malts create a sugar blasted taste. The Dark Lord has a thick bodied mouthfeel, probably the thickest I've had on a Russian Imperial Stout, with a creamy, sweet finish that keeps the high ABV hidden. This beer was a great representation of a Russian Imperial Stout, but it may be a tad bit overhyped. The mouth was solid; flavors of citrus, juicy pineapple, sticky pine, and bitter malts create a great DIPA taste. Hoptimum has a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel, with a long, hoppy finish that lingers around the mouth for quite some time. This year's release of Hoptimum is just as good as it always is; pure hoppy dankness. Cheers to another great brew by Sierra Nevada! 9.3/10 |
