
![]() Tampa, Florida - Imperial Stout - 11.50% ABV - This gift from the Mayan Gods poured a syrupy, opaque black color, with no head, while having sticky lacing that lines the glass. The nose featured decadent aromas of cinnamon and pepper upfront, with undertones of chocolate, vanilla, and coffee that come together wonderfully. The mouth was epic; flavors of cinnamon, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and coffee grounds blend together perfectly, while having a slight spicy backbone from the ancho chilies that tickles the throat. The mouthfeel was thick and heavy bodied, while having a creamy, flavorful, and long finish that leaves you satisfied. Hunahpu's Imperial Stout lives up to the expectations that I've had for it; it certainly didn't disappoint. Thanks to my man@mrbryson for this beast, I'll certainly be looking forward to more. ![]() Grand Rapids, Michigan - BA Imperial Stout - 11.20% ABV - This highly acclaimed Imperial Stout poured an opaque black color with a small layer of brown foam that lined the tip of the glass. The nose featured decadent aromas of dark chocolate, fresh ground espresso, maple syrup, vanilla beans, and oak, while having a charred malt characteristic. The mouth was great; flavors of bourbon and chocolate are prevalent up front, with a back-end full of vanilla, oak, leather, and sweet molasses. KBS has a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel, with a smooth, creamy, and flavorful finish that goes down as a treat. This was a great BA Imperial Stout, but in my opinion, Black Note and BCBS outshines this one. Cheers! 9.6/10 ![]() Kalamazoo, Michigan - BA Imperial Stout - 11.40% ABV - This BA imperial stout poured an opaque black color with a small khaki brown colored head that leaves excellent lacing on the glass. The nose featured aromas of roasted malts, chocolate fudge, vanilla beans, oak, and sweet molasses. This brew tasted amazing; flavors of chocolate fudge, marshmallow, vanilla, oak, sweet caramel, and undertones of boozy bourbon create a decadent mouth taste. The mouthfeel of Black Note was medium-plus bodied, with a long, flavorful finish that coats the palate nicely. I loved this brew, it was even better than Founders' KBS. Cheers! 9.8/10 ![]() Placentia, California - BA Imperial Stout with Vanilla Beans and Cocoa Nibs - 18.00% ABV - This monster-like beer poured a syrupy black color, with a small, viscous layer of brown foam that lines the glass. The nose featured decadent aromas of dark chocolate, hints of espresso, vanilla beans, oak, and sweet malts, while having a boozy undertone. The mouth was unbelievable; the front was full of rich chocolate and vanilla, roasted malts, and sweet molasses, while having a backbone of coffee and boozy oak on the finish. Chocolate Rain had a heavy bodied mouthfeel, almost syrupy, while having a rich and lingering finish that went down like a dessert. This is the only variant of Black Tuesday that I've tried, and I love it. I can't wait to get my hands on some Mocha Wednesday. Cheers to an amazing beer by The Bruery. 10/10 ![]() Kalamazoo, Michigan - Imperial Stout - 10.50% ABV - This complex and tasteful Russian Imperial Stout poured an opaque black color with a small layer of brown foam that dissipates quickly. The nose is stellar on this one; aromas of milk chocolate, burnt wood, and sweet malts are prevalent up front, while having a slightly boozy undertone. The mouth featured balanced flavors of roasted chocolate, vanilla beans, hints of espresso, and sweet malts that come together to create a complex, yet memorable taste. Expedition Stout has a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel, with a syrupy, dry finish. I loved this Imperial Stout from Bell's; now I just need to get my hands on a Black Note Stout! Cheers. 9.6/10 ![]() Truckee, California - Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels - 11.90% ABV - This huge imperial stout poured a dark chocolate brown color with a frothy, khaki colored head. The nose was wonderful; aromas of marshmallow, oak, bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate come jumping right out of the glass to create a wonderful scent. The mouth featured decadent flavors of bourbon and vanilla up front, nothing overpowering though, followed by a sweet and creamy chocolate taste, with undertones of oak and marshmallow. Eclipse has a heavy bodied mouthfeel, with a silky, smooth, and balanced finish that gets even better as it warms. This beer was nothing short of amazing. Cheers! 9.9/10 ![]() Krebs, Oklahoma - Imperial Stout - 13.00% ABV - Bible Belt poured an opaque black color with a fluffy brown head that leaves excellent lacing on the glass. The nose featured distinct aromas of cocoa nibs, robust coffee, vanilla bean, chili peppers, and sweet molasses. The mouth was solid; dessert like flavors of espresso, dark chocolate, vanilla, and toasted caramel burst in your mouth up front, while having undertones of chili peppers on the back end that leave a warming sensation on the throat. Bible Belt has a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel, with a long finish that coats the palate wonderfully. Thank you to my man @dcsquared for this delicious brew along with the Prairie Bomb! I love Prairie, cheers! 9.7/10 ![]() Bible Belt < Prairie Bomb! Tulsa, Oklahoma - Imperial Stout - 14.00% ABV - This Bomb! Imperial Stout poured an opaque black color with a small layer of khaki brown foam that dissipates quickly. The nose featured complex aromas of vanilla bean, fresh espresso, cocoa nibs, oak, and sweet malts that are big up front, while having subtle undertones of chili peppers. The mouth was solid; flavors of espresso, chocolate, and vanilla are prevalent initially, with a back-end of chili peppers that is prominent on the throat. The flavors are so unique, yet so balanced- it's sort of a paradox, in a very good way. The mouthfeel is medium-plus bodied, with a smooth, silky, and warming finish that keeps you wanting more. Bomb! out-shined the Bible Belt, and has easily became one of my favorite Imperial stouts, Cheers! 10/10 |
