![]() Escondido, California - Imperial/Double IPA - 9.4% ABV - This hop filled Double IPA poured a clear, golden-copper color with a frothy white head that leaves excellent lacing on the glass. Devastatingly dank aromas of resinous pine, guava fruit, grapefruit zest, lemon peel, and sweet malts come together nicely to create a beautiful bouquet of a nose. The mouth featured juicy tropical fruit flavors of pineapple, hints of mango, fresh guava, and resinous pine on the front, while having undertones of bitter grapefruit and malts on the back end. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, while having a zesty, crisp, long finish. Enjoy this delicious DIPA by Independence Day, it may just set you free. It's very balanced, and features a wonderful, tropical fruit hop-profile. 9.7/10

![]() Tampa, Florida - Imperial Stout - 11.50% ABV - This gift from the Mayan Gods poured a syrupy, opaque black color, with no head, while having sticky lacing that lines the glass. The nose featured decadent aromas of cinnamon and pepper upfront, with undertones of chocolate, vanilla, and coffee that come together wonderfully. The mouth was epic; flavors of cinnamon, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and coffee grounds blend together perfectly, while having a slight spicy backbone from the ancho chilies that tickles the throat. The mouthfeel was thick and heavy bodied, while having a creamy, flavorful, and long finish that leaves you satisfied. Hunahpu's Imperial Stout lives up to the expectations that I've had for it; it certainly didn't disappoint. Thanks to my man@mrbryson for this beast, I'll certainly be looking forward to more. Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there, Cheers! 10/10 ![]() Munster, Indiana - Russian Imperial Stout - 15.00% ABV - This huge RIS poured a thick, syrupy black color with a small brown head that leaves sticky lacing on the glass. The nose is a bit muted, but it featured aromas of bitter malts, sweet molasses, and caramel, with a slight boozy undertone. The mouth was solid, but perhaps a bit too sweet; flavors of milk chocolate, roasted figs, fresh coffee, fudge brownies, and caramel malts create a sugar blasted taste. The Dark Lord has a thick bodied mouthfeel, probably the thickest I've had on a Russian Imperial Stout, with a creamy, sweet finish that keeps the high ABV hidden. This beer was a great representation of a Russian Imperial Stout, but it may be a tad bit overhyped. Cheers! 93/100 ![]() Chico, California - Imperial/Double IPA - 10.40% ABV - This hop-forward DIPA poured a clear, copper-gold color with a frothy white head that leaves excellent lacing on the glass. The nose featured distinct aromas of resinous pine, dank pineapple, fresh mango, and caramel malts that tickle the senses. The mouth was solid; flavors of citrus, juicy pineapple, sticky pine, and bitter malts create a great DIPA taste. Hoptimum has a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel, with a long, hoppy finish that lingers around the mouth for quite some time. This year's release of Hoptimum is just as good as it always is; pure hoppy dankness. Cheers to another great brew by Sierra Nevada! 9.3/10 ![]() Decorah, Iowa - Imperial/Double IPA - 8.0% ABV - This King-like Double IPA poured a murky, gold color with a small head that holds well. Hops burst right out of the glass and into the nose; aromas of ripe pineapple, fresh oranges, mango, and caramel malts come together blissfully. The mouth was fantastic; flavors of oranges and pineapple are big up front, with undertones of mango, melon, and papaya on the back-end; it was almost like a tropical fruit juice. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with a creamy, long, hop-forward finish that coats the palate nicely. This is a masterpiece of a collaboration between Toppling Goliath and Tree House, no wonder why it deserved the name, (King) David. Thank you for sharing Kevin @usckevin, cheers! 9.7/10 ![]() Santa Rosa, California - American Wild Ale - 6.0% ABV - This outstanding sour ale poured a hazy, straw-gold color with a small layer of pale white foam that dissipates immediately. The nose featured tart aromas of apples, vinegar, lemon zest, and oak with a distinct earthy undertone. The mouth was splendid; puckering flavors of apples, lemon juice, grains, tart grapes, and oak notes create an enamel eroding taste. Beatification has a medium-minus mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, and smooth, crisp finish that brings a sour vengeance to the palate. This is my new favorite sour from Russian River; the acidity on this wild ale is on point. Cheers! 10/10 ![]() Santa Rosa, California - Belgian Pale Ale - 5.15% ABV - This Belgian Blonde Ale poured a golden straw color with a fluffy white head that dissipates quickly and leaves light lacing on the glass. The nose featured distinct aromas of Belgian yeast, apples, cracked wheat, pale malts, oranges, and light spices. Redemption was solid; flavors of lemon peel, earthy grass, pears, bananas, and bready malts come together to create a balanced, crisp taste. The mouthfeel was light bodied, with a smooth, balanced, and refreshing finish that's quite sessionable. Cheers to a solid Pale by Russian River! 8.7/10 ![]() Milton, Delaware - American IPA - 7.0% ABV - Aprihop poured a copper orange color, with a frothy white head that holds well and leaves excellent lacing on the glass. The nose featured subtle aromas of oranges, apricots, jasmine flowers, earthy grains, and caramel malts. Flavors of ripe apricots, orange peel, pine, and floral notes create a balanced, but muted mouth. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with a silky, short finish that could have used more apricots. This was a good IPA, but I was expecting huge notes of apricot to burst in my mouth. Despite the undershot expectation, this is still a well-crafted brew by Dogfish Head. Cheers! 8.3/10 |
